Non-Surgical Orthopedics
WHAT IS NON-SURGICAL ORTHOPEDICS?
Modern research has created remarkable advances in technology with new innovative medical techniques that help us identify, diagnose and treat orthopedic injury and pain problems with more accuracy. Minimally invasive procedures are capable of eliminating the sources and causes of prolonged injury and allow the injured person to return to his/her normal levels of activity…quickly. Research, focusing on neck and back pain, has resulted in creative and innovative solutions to previously persistent spinal disorders, often making surgery unnecessary.
Following an injury, it is essential that the injured person seek rapid medical treatment. Rapid or immediate medical treatment can limit the inflammatory processes and stop chronic degenerative changes, which can lead to long-term pain, disability and medication addictions. Physical therapy is not the solution. Appropriate medical evaluation and treatment by Board Certified Doctors is effective in limiting disability and the high financial cost of accidents. The new and modern approach is to seek medical care as soon after the injury as possible.
People should not fear treatment. Modern innovative and minimally invasive procedures are able to rapidly cure the problem. People instead should fear inaction. Lack of treatment may doom the injured person to incapacity to work, travel or spend meaningful time with family and friends.
WHO PERFORMS THE TREATMENT?
Medical doctors who are ABMS-Board Certified in Interventional Techniques and Procedures, which scientifically diagnose and treat complex and routine orthopedic pain problems, are the medical doctors practicing Non-Surgical Orthopedics. Once the cause of the medical problem is determined, the doctor then determines from scientific studies the best new and modern technology to treat and cure the problem. The patient should carefully choose a doctor who has had several years of experience and a vast knowledge base of the medical and orthopedic problems to be treated. The doctor should perform a full and careful examination. The problem should be diagnosed, and a full discussion of the options discussed in an intelligent and informative session with the patient. All patient questions must be addressed before a decision is made to proceed with treatment.
WHAT TYPE OF TREATMENTS ARE PERFORMED?
The new, minimally-invasive procedures are effective for herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative spinal conditions, sciatica, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, arm and leg tendinopathies, neuropathies, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD or CRPS), musculoskeletal pains, joint pain and many other injuries and orthopedic problems. These minimally invasive treatments may include laser, radiofrequency, electro-thermal, plasma-field and modern medicinal modalities.
SIDE EFFECTS?
Because these procedures are minimally invasive, side effects are dramatically reduced. New technology employing high energy treatment modalities, such as Radiofrequency and Laser reduce medication interactions and side effects. Other tissue damage from surgery is eliminated. There is a small possibility of infection, bleeding and nerve injury. However, the possible side effects of Non-Surgical Orthopedics are significantly less than those of open surgical procedures.
CONCLUSION:
It is estimated that 2 in 10 Americans are affected by chronic neck or back pain at any given time. Many more languish from agonizing spine pain that diminish their quality of life. Eight in 10 Americans, between the ages of 20 and 45, have suffered from some form of spine pain, while many more patients who are experiencing discomfort are those over 65. Many others suffer from large and small joint pain, tendon and ligament disorders, arm or leg pain. And, while there is a seemingly limitless array of temporary remedies, ranging from physical therapy to anti-inflammatories, science now introduces enduring hope for people living with a variety of orthopedic afflictions through a Non-Surgical option. But, remember, early treatment is best to create a rapid cure and offer the most options for success.
